The Need for Workers

35 Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” - Matthew 9:35-38

The Ministry of Mobilization...

For over a decade Two Eight Ministries has partnered with churches, missionaries, non-profits, and recovery efforts around the world to accomplish two tasks...1. to take the good news and good works of Christ where they are desperately needed and hardest to find and 2. to help mobilize believers into action and discover their role in the Great Commission. Service is not just for the one we are serving. It's for us. We were built for it!

34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. - John 4:34-36

We learn from Jesus the most effective, lasting, and fulfilling way to reach and serve a community is by asking God for more harvest workers. Two things have to happen before we assist any outreach effort. First, we identify effective local leadership with a passion and a long term plan; and secondly we help mobilize Christians in that area to join in the work. Community service is not only easier when we all come together, it is more empowering and way more fun!
